Rumana qualified as a dental hygienist in 1990 at Leeds Dental Hospital. Since qualification she has worked in a variety of central London private practices, obtained a teaching certificate that enabled her to teach dental nurses and small groups, and worked as a training development manager for a large dental corporate. She has also worked with the media, written articles for dental publications and was involved in various TV appearances including 'Richard and Judy' regarding the 'tongue manicure' treatment.

Rumana has dedicated time and energy to exploring dental hygiene programmes abroad in India, working in Pune, India at the teaching hospital lecturing dental students and also giving oral health talks to charities and schools.

​

She regularly attends meetings and courses to enhance knowledge and further her skills in order to provide the best service to her patients using a calm, caring and methodical approach. Rumana has had further training in radiography and whitening teeth courses and attended day courses in hypnosis in the treatment of nervous patients. Her aim is to improve the oral health and wellbeing of every patient that follows their patient journey.

She has been accredited as a DENTSPLY preventive trainer enabling her to lecture to fellow colleagues on ultrasonic instrumentation, and has graduated with a research-based degree, the BSc (Hons) Dental Studies at UCLAN (University of Central Lancashire). Rumana has also recently graduated with a second degree, the BSc (Hons) Oral Health Science at the University of Essex and is practising as a 'Dental Therapist' which enables her to provide preventive and restorative treatment and perform deciduous extractions in children.

The latest achievement was being awarded a 'Certificate of Excellence' from the Dental Hygienist and Therapy Awards 2016 and was honoured to be a finalist for the Oral Health Awards 2017 in the 'Best Hygienist' category.

​

In her spare time, besides recreational time with the family, she enjoys painting in oil and acrylic from abstract to landscapes and practises yoga and meditation.
