You may think that the only treatments you can access at the Centre of Dental Excellence are dental treatments, but we do in fact offer a range of treatments to combat ageing, including the all-time classic Botox. In Stanmore, this treatment may also be available from beauticians, but they do not have the in-depth and intimate knowledge of the anatomy of the face, head and neck that we have from our five years of study and training to qualify as dentists.

How Botox works
Botox is brilliant really. It was originally developed to combat excessive sweating, but along the way doctors discovered it was also really good at relaxing wrinkles caused by continually contracted muscles. You know the ones. You wish you could train yourself to stop frowning when you concentrate at work but you can’t. We can stop that frown however. We can iron out your crow’s feet and your worry lines, as well as your smoker’s lines around your lips. Also, if you get headaches and migraines that are brought on by tension, we can use Botox to relax those muscles too.
We inject tiny amounts of Botox into the muscles. The Botox works at the junction between the nerve and the muscle, blocking the signal to contract. Over the next few days, the muscle relaxes and smooths out. Botox is effective for about four months.
