Invisalign explained

Invisalign uses digital 3D printing technology to bring you custom-made, discreet, near invisible braces. The straightening process requires you to use a set of thin, clear plastic aligners. Each set in the series will take you one step closer to your teeth being straightened. In Stanmore, Invisalign is available at Centre of Dental Excellence, and many of our patients are delighted with the results and treatment process.

How does Invisalign in Stanmore work?

As soon as you put your Invisalign aligners in for the first time, you will be able to answer this, you will feel the braces doing their job immediately. The aligners work by pressing on your teeth, different teeth can be targeted at different stages during your Invisalign journey.

Each set of aligners should be worn for 1-2 weeks. As you put in each new aligners, you will feel pressure on all or some of your teeth. You will know when to change your aligners to the next set because they will start to feel as though they fit perfectly. This means their job is done and you can move on to the next set of aligners in the series.

It’s down to you

You will need to wear your aligners for 1-2 weeks each. You can take small breaks from wearing your aligners but the more you wear them, the quicker your treatment will be. The aligners should be worn for most of the day. It’s best if you only take them out for cleaning your teeth or eating. The ideal amount of time to have them in each day is 22 hours. Of course, you can take them out for some situations where you don’t feel comfortable wearing them, but try to put them back in as soon as possible. When it comes down to it, if you don’t wear your aligners enough, you will have longer treatment times.
