Botox for wrinkles and sweating

Botulinum toxin, or Botox, is a purified protein that is used to control wrinkles and excessive sweating. In Stanmore, Botox is administered as an injection, using fine needles. It is usually used for cosmetic reasons but other medical uses also apply.

Botox for wrinkle reduction and prevention

Botox in Stanmore works by interfering with the signalling between your nerves and your muscles. It blocks your nerve signals to certain muscles, paralysing them. Doing this reduces the movement in your muscles, and over the next few days your wrinkles will relax. If you don’t have so many wrinkles yet, Botox can be used to delay or reduce your wrinkles in the future. If your muscles cannot contract so easily, you will not form many wrinkles in the first place.

Botox in Stanmore does take a little time to activate. When you get Botox, it can take 2-4 days before you start to see the results. It can take 7-10 days for the maximum effects to take place. You will be able to enjoy the effects of your Botox treatment for around 3-4 months. Many people come back for top-up treatments around the three month mark.

Botox for sweating

Botox in Stanmore can be used to treat excessive sweating. It has an effect on the nerves that stimulates your sweat glands. Excessive sweating is an uncomfortable condition that can leave people feeling embarrassed. Often patients will have limitations in the clothes they can wear. Botox can stop excessive sweating and help patients to have a normal life again. You will start to see the effect of Botox on sweat glands after 2-4 days, the full effect is reached at 7-10 days. Your Botox should control excessive sweating for 5-6 months before you will need top up injections.

What to consider

Botox injections can be a little bit painful, some patients will experience mild bruising after their Botox injections. Some other rare complications can also come up such as drooping eyelids, some small headaches, or an allergic response to the Botox injection. These side effects, although very rare, cannot always be prevented. You can rest assured that our team are fully trained to recognise and treat any complications early.
